Catalog description

This course covers pre-Hispanic, colonial and contemporary Spanish American Culture. Students are offered a variety of perspectives on historical contexts, social issues, and cultural topics through literature, film, and art. The historical/political moments and cultural topics covered in the class include: conquest and colonization, the wars of Independence and the consolidation of nations, as well as various aspects of society in the 20th and 21st centuries. PREREQ: Permission of the Spanish Program Director
