Catalog description

This course introduces students to the politics of Sub-Saharan Africa. To that end, it covers the precolonial, colonial, and postcolonial areas as they relate to the development of the state. The analysis of postcolonial Africa will include the introduction of multiparty politics, the political economy of development, the outbreak of civil wars and ethnic conflicts, and the changing international relations of the region. PREREQ: PLS 1000 or 1010
