Catalog description

This course focuses on in-depth knowledge of the musculoskeletal system of the hand and upper extremity with an emphasis on occupation-based intervention and splint fabrication. Students will learn the fundamentals of hand therapy including evidence-based practice, physical agent modalities, therapeutic exercises, and orthotics. Students will integrate their knowledge of foundational theories of practice to select appropriate methods to thoroughly evaluate upper extremity disorders, select appropriate intervention strategies, and determine when a client is ready for discharge. Lab required. Lecture and Laboratory. PREREQ: OCCT 5000, 5100, 5150, 5300, 5475 PREREQ/COREQ: OCCT 6480
