Introduction to Human Computer Interaction

Catalog description

This course provides students with a comprehensive account of the field of human-computer interaction (HCI). HCI is a multidisciplinary field of study concerned with how humans interact with software and hardware interfaces. The interplay between people and computers in applications (e.g., multimedia, virtual environments, and computer supported cooperative work, etc.) will be investigated. The theories of human information processing, human behavior, and their implications for user-centered design of interfaces will be explored. The application of the usability engineering process, including analysis, design, prototyping, and testing will be studied. Students learn principles and guidelines for developing high quality interface designs so that users can understand, predict, and control the software. PREREQ: C or better in (CSC 1300 or CSC 3050)
