Catalog description

This course focuses on the history of Uyghur, Tibetan, Mongolian communities in Asia, as well as specific indigenous groups in Japan and South East Asia. Some of the topics explored are the intersection of gender and local identity within these communities, in conjunction with the formation of specific Asian nation states during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The course also aims to help students at UNCP to find and explore the historical experiences of indigenous people in other parts of the world. PREREQ: ENG 1060 & (HST 1140 or HST 1150)
