Expanded Composition

Catalog description

The first of a two-course sequence offered to students who need more experience with academic writing. Students take ENG 1040 Expanded Composition and ENG 1050 Composition I (Expanded) to fulfill the first-semester composition requirement (i.e., ENG 1050). ENG 1040 and ENG 1050 Composition I (Expanded) “stretch” the ENG 1050 curriculum over the span of two semesters to provide students more time to practice and to develop reading, writing, and critical thinking skills essential in all university courses. Placement into ENG 1040. Students must earn a grade of C or better to pass ENG 1040.
