Teaching Social Studies and Content Literacy in Grades K-6

Catalog description

This course offers a comprehensive examination of the context, pedagogies, and literacy strategies that support developmentally appropriate instruction in Social Studies for grades K-6. Candidates analyze current standards, research, instructional practices, technology, and materials to plan effective instruction. Emphasis is placed on inquiry and integrating reading, writing, and social studies to build students’ literacy knowledge and critical thinking. Field Experience is required.
