Leading School Improvement and Organizational Change

Catalog description
In this course, candidates are introduced to the school improvement process with attention to understanding school climate and culture, and implementing changes in the operations, policies, and governance of the school. Candidates will research leadership styles, learn effective leadership practices to influence change, and assess their own strengths and weaknesses as a leader to effectively solve problems and transform schools. Emphasis will be placed on working with culturally diverse schools to increase stakeholder involvement and develop an understanding of the importance of fostering a culture of continuous school improvement. Supervisory practices and instructional models to improve instruction and student achievement will be examined. Candidates will participate in field experience resulting in an evidence-based school improvement and leadership project.
