Catalog description

This course focuses on evidence- based practices for reading, writing, and communicating in a discipline. It incorporates models of instructional strategies that support comprehension and how to meet the needs of struggling readers in the content areas. Instruction, materials, and assignments emphasize the role of prior learning and metacognition in the comprehension of content and instruction; the role of vocabulary to support understanding of content related text; and the role of writing to use precise vocabulary within individual disciplines. Field Experience Required. PREREQ: Admissions to Teacher Education Program
