Catalog description

This course introduces the architecture and protocols of computer networks. The topics include an overview of computer networks and the Internet, wireless and mobile networks, the physical and data link layer, network layer and routing algorithms including multicasting routing, transport layer protocols such as TCP and UDP and their characteristics, performance and limitations, application layer protocols such a FTP, e-mail, DNS, SSH, and HTTP, multimedia and network programming. PREREQ: CSC 1850, CSC 2260.
