Catalog description

The class introduces key neural developmental processes and sequences that contribute to concepts applicable to play therapy. Students will explore the structure and function of the child’s developing brain to include divisions of the nervous system, brain divisions, and executive verses autonomic control. Trauma and distress responses will be explored along with neuroscience research on implementing play therapy to obtain regulation and recovery. PREREQ: Admission to the Professional School Counselor Program, Clinical Mental Health Program, or Play Therapy Graduate Certificate Program.
