Catalog description

The course is designed to provide the students with an experience in conducting scientific research in an area of biological interest. The purpose of the course it to learn how to design and conduct a scientific study, to collect, analyze, and interpret data, and to communicate research findings. Students should discuss research projects and course expectations with mentoring faculty members and obtain their permission for course enrollment prior to registration. Faculty reserve the right to allow or disallow student registration depending on project feasibility, faculty workload, or student potential. Students can register for a limit of 12 credits within a degree plan. A maximum of 4 credit hours can count towards biology electives. (repeatable up to 12 credits) PREREQ: Consent of mentoring faculty member.
