Catalog description

This course is designed for students interested in gaining knowledge of health issues confronting livestock in different animal production systems and companion animals. Fundamental principles of animal health and factors that lead to disease, and the consequent economic and social impact are examined. The course focuses on disease prevention, biosecurity, epidemiology, animal health, and animal welfare, and explores the most relevant diseases by species and organ systems involving cattle, sheep, goats, poultry, swine, dogs and cats. PREREQ: BIO 1000 with a C or better and BIO 1040
