Catalog description

This seminar‑style course examines the principal issues of concern to Native Americans in the 21st century. Both national and international in scope, topics include: politics; economics; treaty relationships with federal and state governments; education; alcohol and substance abuse; the environment; cultural identity and survival; relation with non‑Indigenous; religious freedom; land and water rights; tribal sovereignty; and other contemporary issues as they arise. PREREQ: AIS 1010 or AIS/HST 1100 or AIS/HST 1110
