Catalog description

PSYC 270 (Research Methods) and 245 (Abnormal Psychology) are encouraged but not required. This is an advanced seminar for undergraduate students that provides a comprehensive overview of the scientific study of addiction. This course will focus on the etiology and treatment of addiction to mood altering substances such as alcohol and illicit drugs, although many of the principles reviewed are applicable to behavioral addictions (e.g., gambling). Honors version available.
