Race is at the center of American politics. Everything from voting rights to education policy to the quality of drinking water is shaped by race. This graduate seminar will focus on race in US politics, and while readings will cover multiple racial groups, Black politics will receive the most attention. My goal is that you will leave this course with a broad understanding of how central race is to understanding American politics.
