This research-intensive seminar examines the evolution of EU foreign policy amid growing global uncertainty and internal contestation. Organized around thematic modules, the course explores how the EU navigates key domains--security, climate, trade, migration, and digital governance--while balancing normative commitments and strategic interests. Students engage critically with challenges such as de-Europeanization, norm contestation, and polarization, analyzing how external shocks like Russia's invasion of Ukraine reshape policy responses. Combining theory-driven scholarship with official EU sources, the course culminates in an individual term paper and includes a Diplomacy Lab component on Arctic security and EU-U.S. coordination.
