Nonprofit organizations are organized groups of people that form for the purpose of providing goods and services. This course will explore the integral relationship between nonprofits and public policy. Students will develop a comprehensive understanding of the role of public policy in shaping nonprofits, the role of nonprofits in shaping and implementing public policy, and how nonprofits through leadership and management can maximize their reach. First, we examine the mechanics of non-profit leadership and management. Second, we examine how public policy shapes nonprofits. Third, we will examine how nonprofits influence public policy.
