Catalog description

Intended for upper-level students of any major, this class will explore an interdisciplinary approach to technology policy that positions technology as a force for good--provided it is designed, deployed, and monitored with a focus on equity and individual dignity. The course will offer a framework for understanding how novel technologies can threaten fundamental rights through surveillance, bias, and hyper-nudging, while examining the critical trade-offs inherent in the use of technology in the public sector.
