Catalog description

This course provides a survey of federal and state laws regulating consumer financial transactions. Students will understand laws that govern credit card, debit card, and peer-to-peer electronic payments, including impacts on financial institutions and consumers from account takeover scams. Students will engage in mock representation of consumers or corporations on issues such as lending discrimination, sale of consumer data, debt collection, student loans. Class will meet in a three hour block to facilitate skills-based exercises.
