Permission of the instructor for students lacking the prerequisites. Familiarity with Stata or R. This course is the first in a sequence of empirical methods courses focused on causal inference. We will begin with linear regression models (i.e., ordinary least squares) and extend to nonlinear, matching, and propensity score approaches. For each approach, the course explores how to test each of the underlying assumptions and how to correct the model when the assumptions fail. We will use Stata and R software.
