Water has played pivotal roles in the histories, societies, and politics of Middle Eastern peoples. This course will survey the role of water in religious and cultural practices, technological innovations that facilitate agriculture, public health issues arising from water-borne diseases, and the contribution of water scarcity to cross-border political conflicts.
