Catalog description

This course traces Iberian history from the eleventh to fifteenth centuries, focusing specifically on two related developments: frontier conditions that accompanied the progressive conquest of Muslim al-Andalus by the northern Christian kingdoms of Castile and Aragon and the multicultural, multireligious socities that resulted. We will study social relations on the ground within and between communities of Jews, Christians, and Muslims under conditions of constant change over the course of more than four centuries.
