Catalog description

An interdisciplinary exploration of Eastern and Western traditions through literature, philosophy, and audiovisual media. Classical Chinese, Indian, and Greek texts are paired with later artistic and intellectual responses to address enduring and contemporary questions of meaning, cosmology, desire, the good life, and creativity. The course compares methods from literary study, philosophy, and cultural history to examine how aesthetic form and philosophical argumentation offer distinct but complementary approaches to these issues across, between, and within cultures.
