Catalog description

This module will introduce the natural environment of bioinformatics: the Unix/Linux command line. Material will cover logging into remote machines, filesystem organization and file manipulation, installing and using software (including bioinformatic examples such as HMMER and BLAST). Module will use UNC's Longleaf computing cluster, learning how to manage pre-configured software environments, batch and interactive job submission, and briefly review Longleaf OnDemand-available computational environments RStudio and Jupyter.
