Catalog description

This survey course introduces students to major global challenges facing policymakers and societies around the world by examining them through multiple disciplinary perspectives and methodological approaches. The course emphasizes interdisciplinary inquiry and exposes students to diverse research strategies in order to broaden their analytical frameworks. A central element of the class is helping students understand and evaluate the research process through the careful analysis of scholarly articles. Students will learn how to dissect academic studies by identifying core theoretical arguments, formulating and evaluating hypotheses, assessing how variables are conceptualized and measured, examining methodological choices, and interpreting empirical findings.
