1 section
Catalog description
This course provides a conceptual and applied introduction to taking geospatial analyses beyond the desktop when data and workloads grow. This course introduces the core ideas for scaling up spatial analysis: data storage architectures, spatial indexing and partitioning, and distributed execution on local, cluster, and cloud platforms. Using a diverse set of open-access datasets, students will learn the fundamentals of working with "large" and "big" data and extend familiar geospatial analysis techniques from desktop software to more scalable environments.
