Agroecology and Ecoliteracy.

Catalog description

This course integrates agricultural, ecological, and design principles to enhance environmental health. In it we focus on three primary things: We study the histories and methods of a diverse range of agricultural practices--from wild gardening and permaculture to high intensity crop production. We also develop increased familiarity, or "literacy," with natural systems including water ways, plant and forest systems, and their interconnectedness in the natural world. Third, through a semester-long creative project, we learn practical design skills for applying agroecological solutions to improve environmental health and resilience in our local context.
