Catalog description
This mixed graduate and undergraduate course introduces students to the basic elements of the thought of Karl Marx and the reception and transformation of these elements in later philosophies and theories of culture. In addition to the work of Marx, students may expect to read work by such thinkers as G. W. F. Hegel, W. E. B. DuBois, Rosa Luxembourg, Antonio Gramsci, Fredric Jameson, Sylvia Federici, Michel Foucault, C. L. R. James, and others.
