Catalog description

Through analyses of teen and period films, this course explores cinema's relationship to time, memory, nostalgia, adolescence, aging, and history. It also examines the material specificity of film and its visual and sonic technologies, both analog and digital. Particular attention is given to retro aesthetics--tendencies that recall and rework the historical past.
