Catalog description
This course provides a rigorous introduction to comedy arts, focusing on the individual and collaborative writing processes of sketch comedy. Students will learn to develop characters, settings, and tension using the tools preferred by contemporary performers, including the game of the scene, absurdity and incongruity, status, active patterning, and parody. This intensive experience culminates in student-written, live sketch comedy performances.
