Catalog description

Required preparation, one relevant EMES or ENEC course or permission of the instructor. Focus is on applying geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing concepts and techniques to problems in geology, hydrology, oceanography, and related topics. Topics covered include vector and raster GIS, principles of cartography, and optical and radar remote sensing. The class involves a combination of lab-based learning and research-based investigation culminating in a final project. Three lecture hours per week. Course previously offered as GEOL 483/MASC 483.
