This course will provide a foundational introduction to key patterns and underlying concepts in coastal and estuarine community ecology. Leveraging the local environment, the class will primarily focus on the structure and community dynamics of important temperate coastal marine habitats such as salt marshes, oyster reefs, seagrass meadows, and beaches (although the ecological concepts are meant to be transferrable across diverse systems).
