Catalog description

This advanced elective is designed for graduate-level students in school counseling who are ready to deepen their clinical skillset and translate theory into practice. Through a hands-on, project-based approach, students will explore and apply evidence-based counseling techniques, including Internal Family Systems, Motivational Interviewing, Expressive Arts Techniques, Narrative Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment/Dialectical Behavior Therapy adapted for the school setting. Students create practical, school-ready individual and group intervention plans that can be immediately used in K--12 environments. Students will engage in experiential learning, peer consultation, and reflective practice to ensure that each plan is both clinically sound and contextually relevant.
