Catalog description

This course serves as an introduction to the foundations of qualitative research, including histories and philosophies that shape methods and frameworks for conducting research, as well as the importance of core concepts such as subjectivity, positionality, ontology, and epistemology. Students will learn skills such as developing basic research designs, research questions for conducting interviews, as well as preliminary approaches to data analysis. Throughout the semester, students learn to critically read and write about qualitative research while gaining understandings of this field of inquiry.
