EDUC 428
Science of Learning for Elementary Teachers.
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This course explores foundational principles of how people think and learn, as individuals and in groups, and how students make meaning of what they encounter inside and outside of the elementary classroom. In particular, readings, lectures, and activities explore empirical research around how to make classroom instruction and interactions as supportive of young students' learning, motivation, and engagement as possible, and how to strategically and effectively differentiate and individualize instruction. Assignments are heavily focused on real-world applications for elementary classroom contexts. BAEd program students only.
