Catalog description

This course is structured around theoretical frameworks of expertise development, self-regulation, and creativity. Topics will include deliberate practice, the psychology of motivation and positive functioning, accountability, personal narratives, competitiveness, leadership, resilience, flow, learned optimism, performance measurement, well-being, and the role of creativity and design in solving complex problems. Students will learn to compose, design, build, present, or perform a work that reflects immersion in their chosen domain of expertise; to explain the influence of creativity, technologies, materials, and processes on performance and expression; and to evaluate their own and others' work through structured critique to create value in creative domains.
