Catalog description
This course builds on the skills acquired in Acting the Song and applies them in the context of a full scene. The course addresses how and why songs occur in the text of musicals, how to transition from dialogue to song and back again, and how to incorporate underscoring in scene work. It incorporates material from different styles and genres: the ''Golden Age'' (Oklahoma, Guys and Dolls, Gypsy) through the 60's/70's (Sweet Charity, Baby, Company) to the present (Rent, Wicked, Parade).
