Catalog description

Systems programming fundamentals including data representation, pointers, execution models, memory management, and runtime environments. Process model, input/output, and system calls. Lexical analysis, parsing, interpretation, and translation. Command-line interface tools including shell, editor, compiler, linker, test harness, debugger, version control, and build tooling. The overarching goal is to bridge the gap between a students' knowledge of a high-level programming language ( COMP 110 , 210 ) and computer organization ( COMP 311 ).
