Catalog description
This course provides hands-on experience in public communication, focusing on real-world impact within the Chapel Hill community. In partnership with a local nonprofit dedicated to youth mentorship, students will use their public speaking skills to increase awareness of the organization's mission and support recruitment efforts for new mentors. Through this collaboration, students will explore the structural challenges facing the local community, develop tailored communication strategies, and create deliverables to enhance the nonprofit's outreach. In addition to preparing public presentations, students will represent the nonprofit in public speaking engagements, gaining practical experience in advocacy and community engagement.
