Catalog description

The sports industry is a fast-moving, constantly evolving business environment where traditional strategies must adapt to shifting fan behaviors, emerging technologies, and new competitive pressures. While some challenges can be addressed with standard business tools, true success requires innovative thinking about fan engagement, revenue generation, and brand building. Unlike other industries, sports operate through unique emotional, cultural, and economic dynamics that demand specialized strategic frameworks and creative problem-solving. This course draws on marketing, strategic management, and sports industry best practices to help students understand these complexities and develop effective strategies for competing--and innovating--in the modern sports marketplace.
