Catalog description
This course introduces students to the foundations of operations management in both service and manufacturing contexts, examining operations from strategic and operational perspectives. Students will learn how effective operations can create competitive advantage for organizations. The course covers key production and operations systems, exploring tradeoffs, management tasks, and their impact on firm strategy. Students will also analyze strategic issues in operations and their integration with other business functions. Throughout the course, students will gain competence in essential tools and techniques used by operations professionals and begin developing the analytical skills necessary for effective operations management.
