Catalog description
A broad and comprehensive introduction to Islam and important developments in Muslim experiences, discourses, and practices since the 16th century and up to the present. Topics include Muslim experiences with modernity, colonialism, and nationalism, Muslim reform movements and social justice activism, and shifts in Qur'an interpretation, Islamic law, and religious practice. Students may not receive credit for both RELI 181 / ASIA 181 and ASIA 139 / HIST 139 .
