Catalog description

This course introduces the politics of performance art and its implications on social practice. Through a blend of seminar discussions, group workshops, and critique sessions, we will delve into various strategies for engaging with the medium. Our exploration will involve careful consideration of decolonial gestures, materiality, space, context, and intentionality. We'll analyze how contemporary artists navigate discourses surrounding race, gender, sexuality, nationality, and class. Active participation in reading discussions, exercises, and artist lectures is mandatory.
