Catalog description
This course is an introduction to the historical development of art in the Mediterranean basin, from the end of the Prehistoric Period to the Medieval Period, from a Western perspective, and also an introduction to the history of art as a discipline. As we consider selected cultures and monuments in their larger archaeological, art-historical, and historical context, we will develop visual skills through the formal analysis of works of art. Honors version available.
