. This course is designed to introduce students to the field and practice of child welfare. The primary focus is upon the history, conceptual base, and practice skills essential to the field. Child welfare services are viewed as helping to support and stabilize families and, where this is not possible, provide healthy placements for children through foster care and adoption. The course is approved by the State Division of Social Services the North Carolina Child Welfare Education Collaborative.
