Corequisites: EDU 3310 This survey course in reading instruction provides a comprehensive treatment of the major topics of reading, including emergent literacy, approaches and materials used to teach beginning reading, word identification, vocabulary, comprehension, and literature-based reading instruction. Teacher candidates also investigate issues in teaching reading to mainstreamed exceptional students. Field experience is required.
