, and EDU 3410 . This is a survey of methods designed to prepare beginning teachers for instruction in language arts (excluding reading). The course content includes topics such as theoretical models of language development, listening, oral language, spelling, handwriting, reference skills, and children’s composition. Teacher candidates will also learn about techniques for teaching language arts to mainstreamed exceptional students. Field experience is required.
