(Fall) An introduction to dramatic literature, staging, playwrights and major philosophies of early Greek, Roman, African, Oriental, Commedia dell ‘Art and Renaissance literature, as well as extensive coverage of The Poetics of Aristotle. A broad survey focusing on the multi-cultural nature of theatre and its development, the course also provides critical ways of viewing and evaluating humanity through this unique artistic mirror.
