Pre- or Co-requisite: CHEM 3100 (lecture course) This laboratory course is designed to replace the current two credit organic chemistry laboratory. Basic laboratory techniques of distillation, crystallization, melting point determination, extraction, rotary evaporation, thin-layer and column chromatography as well as introduction to spectroscopic methods and the synthesis of the compounds of carbon are emphasized.
